Reef Aquarium Club Listing & Directory

One of the best ways to learn about the saltwater aquarium hobby, meet other people that share your interests, get help locally and save money at your favorite local and online fish stores is to join a Reef Aquarium Club.

Marine Aquarium Society of North America (MASNA)

Many of the Reef Aquarium Clubs are members of MASNA,  a non-profit organization of marine aquarium clubs and individual hobbyists from North America, with the goals of:

  • Educating members
  • Conducting the MACNA conference
  • Promoting the growth of clubs within the hobby
  • Ensuring a sustainable future for the marine environment
  • Supporting the efforts to eliminate abuses in collecting and transporting marine organisms through education, assistance and encouragement
  • Encourage the ethical growth of the marine aquarium hobby and support captive breeding/propagation efforts

The best way to learn about reef aquarium clubs in your area is to check out their website, register for the forum, to begin engaging with some of the members there, find out and plan to attend the next in-person meeting.

I have included a listing of the local marine reef aquarium clubs I found online. Truthfully, I could use some help in ensuring these are the most helpful listings, so if you are aware of a reef aquarium club that is in your state and not listed here, please let me know.

Discussion Boards

Another way to quickly survey the landscape and find a local reef aquarium club is to check out some of the national discussion boards. ReefCentral and Reef2Reef each have dedicated sections where they allow local groups to have their own threads, which makes it easier on the club than having to set up and maintain their own website.

Conclusion

Are you a member of a reef aquarium club that isn’t listed here? What is the best way for someone new to reach out and learn more about the club? Please leave a comment and let me know–and I’ll add it to the list

Atlanta Reef Club is a very active club in Georgia. A great online forum, and they have a large annual expo. Atlantareefclub.org

In Nashville, TN, is the Middle Tennessee Reef Club. mtrc.org
That web page doesn’t look very active, but they are on Reef2Reef and Facebook page is current.

    Thanks for this post!

Please provide some links. Al is working hard, and hardly deserves to be shouted at. He clearly asked for suggestions and that the list was not exhaustive. (As in he got two of my states, but not the other two.)

That’s great to have international readership!

Haha, thanks, Alex. I don’t think Alan was shouting. He just had to speak a bit louder from across the pond. I’m grateful for the suggestion. It was an unfortunate oversight to leave out other countries. I am fortunate that ~25-30% of the visitors to this site are from Australia, Canada, South Africa and U.K., so I added those places to this list, but could use some help finding those clubs. The few I found quickly by googling appear to be hyposalinity lovers.

By the way, what are the odds that Alan, Alex and Albert are the three people reading and responding to this thread. Is that some strange cosmic phenomenon?

Could you please give some links for clubs in UAE. Also, can someone living in UAE subscribe to online clubs/forums in the USa for sharing info?

Hi Salil, it is nice to meet you. Thanks for the suggestion. I put a placeholder for UAE in the post, but I am not aware of the local clubs there. I did a very quick internet search and found a Facebook group .

As far as whether you can join–yes–I think a lot of the clubs would let you join in on the discussions. Register and introduce yourself to get started.
