Reef Aquarium Club Listing & Directory

One of the best ways to learn about the saltwater aquarium hobby, meet other people that share your interests, get help locally and save money at your favorite local and online fish stores is to join a Reef Aquarium Club.

Marine Aquarium Society of North America (MASNA)

Many of the Reef Aquarium Clubs are members of MASNA,  a non-profit organization of marine aquarium clubs and individual hobbyists from North America, with the goals of:

  • Educating members
  • Conducting the MACNA conference
  • Promoting the growth of clubs within the hobby
  • Ensuring a sustainable future for the marine environment
  • Supporting the efforts to eliminate abuses in collecting and transporting marine organisms through education, assistance, and encouragement
  • Encourage the ethical growth of the marine aquarium hobby and support captive breeding/propagation efforts

The best way to learn about reef aquarium clubs in your area is to check out their website, register for the forum, to begin engaging with some of the members there, find out and plan to attend the next in-person meeting.

I have included a listing of the local marine reef aquarium clubs I found online. Truthfully, I could use some help in ensuring these are the most helpful listings, so if you are aware of a reef aquarium club that is in your state and not listed here, please let me know.

Discussion Boards

Another way to quickly survey the landscape and find a local reef aquarium club is to check out some of the national discussion boards. ReefCentral and Reef2Reef each have dedicated sections where they allow local groups to have their own threads, which makes it easier on the club than having to set up and maintain their own website.

Conclusion

Are you a member of a reef aquarium club that isn’t listed here? What is the best way for someone new to reach out and learn more about the club? Please leave a comment and let me know–and I’ll add it to the list
